12月27日讯英冠第23轮，兰帕德执教的考文垂主场4-0大胜鲁尼带领的普利茅斯，送对方英冠连续8轮不胜，继续联赛垫底。
赛后接受采访时，鲁尼表示，依然相信自己是执教普利茅斯的合适人选。
而兰帕德则表示：“你干这行的时间越长，你会明白某些时候就会发生这样的情况（鲁尼的困境）。每个人都会在工作中遇到挑战，我不该对他的工作发表评论。我们踢得很好，我祝他一切顺利。”
